A website care plan is a monthly service that keeps a website updated, backed up, secured, monitored and fast, so problems are found and fixed before customers notice them. It is the maintenance side of owning a site: WordPress core and plugin updates, tested and applied; backups that can actually be restored; malware and vulnerability scanning; uptime monitoring; and a plain-English report. Titan Blue’s Website Care Plans start from $147 per month including GST, on a month-to-month basis for Australian businesses.
This guide explains what a care plan is made of, how to tell a good provider from a poor one, who needs one, and how the work runs. It also includes a check of our own website, with the unflattering results left in, because a maintenance article should show its working.
Key Takeaways
- A care plan covers the unglamorous jobs that stop a site failing: updates, backups, security scans, uptime monitoring, speed checks, broken link fixes and a monthly report.
- The WordPress handbook states that older versions of WordPress are not maintained with security updates, so staying current is a security requirement, not a preference.
- A backup you have never restored is a hope, not a plan. Ask any provider how often backups run, where they are stored and when a restore was last tested.
- Care plans from Titan Blue start from $147 per month including GST, with no lock-in contract. Your website, hosting and data stay yours.
- We checked our own site for this guide. It reports the current WordPress version, and our care plans page earned 89 Google impressions and no clicks in 90 days, so we have work to do too.

What Is a Website Care Plan?
A website care plan is an ongoing agreement where a team looks after the technical health of your website every month, so you do not have to remember, chase or fix anything yourself. It is sometimes called website maintenance, a WordPress care plan or a managed support plan.
The idea is simple. A website is software, and software ages. WordPress core, your theme and every plugin release fixes on their own schedules. Hosting environments change. Forms stop sending email. Images grow heavier. None of this is visible on a normal day, and all of it eventually shows up as a slow page, a hacked site or a lost enquiry.
A care plan turns that background risk into a routine. It sits alongside the build itself, which is covered in our guide to website design services in Australia, and it is the reason a site that launched well keeps performing a year later.
What Does Website Maintenance Include?
Website maintenance includes eleven recurring jobs, and the quality of a plan is decided by how many of them are done properly rather than listed on a brochure. These are the components of our care plans, with the reason each one matters.
| Component | What we do | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Core software updates | Keep WordPress on the latest stable version | Older WordPress versions do not receive security updates |
| 2. Plugin updates, tested | Update plugins, then check that key pages, forms and checkout still work | An untested update can quietly break an enquiry form or a payment step |
| 3. Offsite backups with restore | Take backups stored away from the web server and restore a clean version when needed | A backup on the same server fails with the server |
| 4. Security scanning | Scan regularly for malware, suspicious files and known vulnerabilities, and act at once if something turns up | Problems found early are cheaper and quicker to fix |
| 5. Uptime monitoring | Watch the site around the clock and alert the team the moment it goes offline | You hear about an outage from us, not from a customer |
| 6. Database optimisation | Clean and optimise the database | Bloat slows pages as a site grows |
| 7. Performance scans | Find slow pages, heavy scripts and bottlenecks | Slow pages cost visitors, enquiries and search visibility |
| 8. Broken link scanning | Find and fix or redirect dead links | Visitors and search engines should never hit a dead end |
| 9. Support | Priority help from a team that knows your site, with under one hour response in business hours on the Professional plan | Small issues do not wait in a queue |
| 10. Content updates | Sixty minutes of text, image and page changes each month on the Professional plan, with unused time not carried over | Routine edits get done without a new quote each time |
| 11. Monthly report | A plain-English summary of updates, backups, uptime, security checks and what we recommend next | You can see the work, not just trust it |
Not every site needs all eleven at full intensity. A small brochure site may only need updates, backups and a monthly report, while a site that generates leads or sales benefits from daily backups, monitoring and security scanning. Our care plan page sets out which plan includes what.
What Are the Risks of an Unmaintained WordPress Website?
An unmaintained WordPress website carries four main risks: security compromise, silent breakage, slow performance and lost search visibility. Each builds slowly and then appears suddenly.
WordPress’s own hardening guide states that older versions of WordPress are not maintained with security updates. Source: WordPress Advanced Administration Handbook, Hardening WordPress, retrieved 4 November 2026.
- Security. Software that is no longer updated stays exposed to problems that have already been published. Google also notes that when a site is hacked, attackers can use cloaking to hide the hack from the owner, as described in its spam policies.
- Silent breakage. A contact form that stops sending, a checkout step that errors or a plugin conflict rarely announces itself. Nobody is watching, so the first sign is often a customer or a quiet inbox.
- Slow performance. Images, scripts and database bloat accumulate. Google’s guidance on Core Web Vitals recommends that Largest Contentful Paint occurs within 2.5 seconds, Interaction to Next Paint is 200 milliseconds or less, and Cumulative Layout Shift is 0.1 or less, as set out on web.dev.
- Lost visibility. Stale, slow or broken pages are harder for search engines and AI answer engines to crawl and trust, which we cover below.
None of this is dramatic on any given day, which is exactly why it gets deferred. A care plan makes deferral impossible by putting the work on a calendar.
Not Sure Where Your Site Stands?
Our free Care Check looks at your site from the outside, with no logins and no changes, and tells you in plain English what it found and what it means for your business.
What Separates a Good Care Plan Provider From a Poor One?
A good care plan provider proves that the work happens, tests what it changes and tells you plainly what it found. A poor one sells a list of features and sends no evidence. Use these questions when comparing providers, including us.
- Where are backups stored, and when was a restore last tested? Backups kept on the same server are not a recovery plan. The WordPress backup handbook notes that a site consists of core, plugins, themes, files and a database, so a real backup has to capture both files and database. See the WordPress backup guide.
- Are updates tested after they are applied? Updating blindly is how sites break. Ask what is checked afterwards, such as forms and checkout.
- What do you receive each month? A report you can read in two minutes is worth more than a dashboard login you never open.
- Who answers when something goes wrong, and how fast? Look for a stated response time and a named team, not a ticket queue in another time zone.
- Is there a lock-in contract? Month-to-month terms keep the provider honest. Your website, hosting and data should always remain yours.
- Do they understand how your site gets found? A provider that only patches software will keep your site alive. One that also understands search and AI visibility keeps it found.
The table below compares the three common situations Australian businesses are in.
| Question | Titan Blue care plan | Offshore maintenance studio | No plan |
|---|---|---|---|
| Updates, backups, security | Managed to a monthly routine | Often included | Whenever someone remembers |
| Who you speak to | An Australian team, by phone or email | Usually a ticket queue | Nobody |
| Billing | AUD, month to month, no lock-in | Often USD | Not applicable |
| Search and AI visibility | Considered as part of the work | Rarely considered | Not considered |
| Can also run marketing | SEO, Google Ads, Meta Ads and social | Maintenance only | No |
Plenty of offshore studios maintain WordPress sites competently, and for some businesses that is a reasonable choice. The difference is whether your maintenance team also understands your market and how Australian buyers find you.
Who Benefits From a Website Care Plan, and Who Does Not?
A care plan benefits any business whose website brings in enquiries or sales and whose owner would rather not manage software updates. It matters most when downtime or a hack would cost real money or reputation.
It suits:
- Service businesses in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and regional Australia whose website is the main source of enquiries.
- Online stores on WooCommerce, where a broken checkout means lost orders and where our tailored care adds checkout monitoring and a staging site for safe updates.
- Owners whose site was built by someone who has since moved on and who no longer know who is responsible for it.
- Businesses investing in SEO or advertising, because traffic sent to a slow or broken site is wasted.
It is not for everyone. If your site is a simple one-page holding site that you edit rarely, a basic backup and update routine may be enough. If you are on a fully managed platform that handles updates for you, a care plan covers less. We would rather tell you that after a free check than sell you something you do not need.
What We Found When We Checked Our Own Website
We ran a quick outside-in check of titanblue.com.au on 4 November 2026 before writing this section, using one browser-style request per page and public sources. The results are mixed, which is why they are useful.
- WordPress core is current. The homepage’s public generator tag reports WordPress 7.1.4, and the official WordPress version check at api.wordpress.org lists 7.1.4 as the current release at the time of the check.
- Plugins are visible in page source. The homepage source references 11 distinct plugin folders, and our care plans page references the same 11. Plugin folder names are public by design, which is one reason updates matter: anyone can see what is installed.
- Security headers did not appear. In that single request, none of six common hardening headers (Strict-Transport-Security, X-Frame-Options, Content-Security-Policy, X-Content-Type-Options, Referrer-Policy and Permissions-Policy) appeared in the response. This is a sample of one request, and a security layer in front of the site could behave differently, but it is on our own list to review.
- Pages are heavy. The homepage returned in about 1.6 seconds in that request and the care plans page returned about 710 KB of HTML before images.
- Our care plans page has a visibility problem. In the 90 days to 2 November 2026, Google Search Console recorded 89 impressions and no clicks for the page, at an average position of about 18.9. The query “website care plans” accounted for 26 of those impressions. That is a small sample, so we draw no conclusions beyond this: the page is not yet winning clicks, and this guide is part of the fix.
The point is not that we are perfect. It is that maintenance is a list of specific, checkable items, and a provider should be able to show you the same sort of list for your site.

How Do Website Care Plans Help With SEO and AI Search?
Care plans help SEO and AI search by keeping the technical conditions that search engines and AI answer engines rely on in good shape: fast pages, working links, valid structured data, secure HTTPS and fresh, accurate content.
Google states in its documentation that no special AI files or markup are needed to appear in its AI features. What matters is that pages are crawlable, indexable and contain helpful, accurate information. A neglected site undermines those basics in quiet ways:
- Broken links and redirects waste crawl effort and frustrate visitors.
- Slow pages hurt the experience that Core Web Vitals are designed to measure.
- Plugin conflicts can remove or corrupt structured data, the schema.org markup that describes your business, without anyone noticing. Our guide to schema markup in website design explains why that matters.
- Outdated information such as old opening hours, policies or staff details makes a page less trustworthy to both people and machines.
- A hacked or defaced site can drop out of results altogether.
This is why our tailored care option includes an AI search and AEO monitoring add-on. Maintenance keeps your site alive and AI readiness keeps it found. Read more in our guide to AEO web design in Australia, or see our AI Ready Check.
How Does a Care Plan Work With Titan Blue?
A Titan Blue care plan starts with a free outside-in check and then moves to a monthly routine, with no lock-in contract. You do not need to hand over logins to find out where you stand.
| Step | What happens | What you receive |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Free Care Check | You send your web address and we run a seven-point outside-in review: versions, security headers and login exposure, SSL and blacklist status, mobile speed, broken links and forms, hosting and backup signals, and AI visibility | A plain-English report by email, usually within minutes, reviewed by a specialist |
| 2. Choose a plan | We recommend the plan that fits how much your site earns, or a tailored plan for stores and multi-site owners | A clear scope with a starting price from $147 per month including GST |
| 3. Onboarding | We secure access, set up offsite backups and monitoring, and bring core and plugins up to date with testing | A working baseline and a confirmed restore path |
| 4. Monthly routine | Updates, scans, backups, monitoring and fixes run in the background | Peace of mind and no chasing |
| 5. Monthly report | We summarise what was done and what we recommend next | A report you can read in minutes |
Plans are month to month with GST invoices, and prices are in Australian dollars. Care plans start from $147 per month including GST, with the scope and any tailored needs for stores confirmed before you start.

Which Services Work Best With a Care Plan?
Care plans work best alongside the services that create or grow your website’s value, because maintenance protects the investment while the other services build it.
- Website Design. A new site starts clean. A care plan keeps it that way after launch, so the performance and structure you paid for do not decay. Web design is quoted to scope.
- SEO. SEO from $770 per month ex GST builds rankings, and a care plan protects them from slow pages, broken links and security problems. Our SEO services guide explains the work.
- AEO. Answer engine optimisation makes your content quotable by AI. A care plan keeps the schema, speed and freshness that AEO depends on. See our AEO services guide.
The combination outperforms any one service alone. Design builds the site, SEO and AEO bring people and AI engines to it, and the care plan keeps it fast, safe and accurate while they do. Our SEO clients show what sustained, maintained work can achieve, and we only attribute those results to the services that produced them:
| Client | Published result | Source |
|---|---|---|
| QLD Honey and Hives | Organic clicks from 23 to 400+ a month, page 5 to page 1, online orders up 162% | Read the case study |
| CarbonHalo | Organic clicks from 5 to 300+ a month, page 6 to top 3 for commercial terms | Read the case study |
| Mad Over Italian | Organic clicks from 368 to 2,767 a month, position 1 across both venues | Read the case study |
| Eat at ROBs | Ranking 11th to position 1 against national publishers | Read the case study |
Those are SEO and AEO results, not care plan results. Read verified feedback on our Google reviews page and browse the portfolio.

Why Enquire About a Care Plan Now?
The reason to act now is that the cost of neglect compounds quietly while the cost of starting is low. Every month without updates widens the gap between your site and published fixes, and buyers are increasingly discovering suppliers through Google AI Overviews, AI Mode and ChatGPT search, which favour sites that load fast and stay accurate.
- Old software gets no new fixes. Once a version falls out of support, nobody is patching it for you.
- Problems are cheaper early. A failed update caught in testing is a small job. A hacked site restored from no backup is not.
- Visibility is built on reliability. If you are investing in SEO, advertising or AEO, a care plan stops the foundation cracking.
The lowest-friction first step is our free Care Check, or the free AI Search Scanner if you want to see how AI engines read your site. If you prefer to talk, contact us and we will say honestly whether you need a plan at all.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a website care plan?
It is a monthly service that maintains the technical health of your website: updates, backups, security scanning, uptime monitoring, performance checks and reporting. It keeps a site safe, fast and online without you managing the software yourself.
How much does website maintenance cost in Australia?
Titan Blue Website Care Plans are priced as published on our care plans page: Starter at $147 per month and Professional at $197 per month, in Australian dollars including GST, month to month with no lock-in contract. Professional adds features such as daily backups, security scanning, monitoring and content update time, and tailored plans for stores are quoted to scope. Web design and development are quoted separately.
What does website maintenance include?
It includes WordPress core and plugin updates, backups and restores, security scans, uptime monitoring, database optimisation, performance scans, broken link fixes, support and a monthly report. The exact mix depends on the plan.
Is a website care plan worth it?
It is worth it when your website produces enquiries or sales, because downtime, a hack or a broken form costs more than routine maintenance. It is less valuable for a rarely used holding page or a fully managed platform that handles updates itself.
Can I cancel a care plan at any time?
Yes. Our plans are month to month with no lock-in contract, and your website, hosting and data always stay yours.
Do you maintain websites that Titan Blue did not build?
Yes. The free Care Check starts with an outside-in review of your existing site, so we can tell you where it stands and which plan fits before you commit to anything.
Does website maintenance help with SEO and AI search?
Indirectly, yes. It keeps pages fast, links working, structured data intact and content current, which are conditions search engines and AI answer engines rely on. It does not replace SEO or AEO work, and no provider can guarantee rankings.
What happens if my website is hacked?
On a plan with security scanning, suspicious files and malware are flagged and acted on, and a clean backup can be restored. Without a tested backup, recovery is slower and more expensive, which is why backups are central to any plan.
